I missed a great sale by Briggs & Riley a few months ago and felt determined to avenge my laziness. Alas, I bought a Briggs & Riley ZDX Global Carry-on Expandable Spinner, although not at the price deduction I hoped for.
But what gives me great solace is knowing this will likely be my last purchase of a carry-on due to Briggs & Riley’s lifetime warranty on the carry-on luggage. It’s time I put this to the test.
In all honesty, during mid-travel, I bought this and had it delivered to my hotel room. I felt like my Travelpro Platinum Elite Hardside Expandable Checked Luggage became overburdened and way too heavy. Anytime I saw a person helping me lift the massive suitcase, I worried about muscle and backstrains.
In order to mitigate the strains, buying this practical suitcase felt like what I needed during this travel trip. On top of having this handy during this trip, I’m looking forward to taking it on the road with me during international travel. After traveling extensively for the past ten years, I understand the value of a well-built suitcase!
I’m happy to report, this practical spinner luggage does not disappoint! The first detail I noticed right away were the smooth, gliding wheels the ZDX Global Carry-On have, making it easy to navigate all spaces. From the lobby to the elevator to the room. Back to the elevator, to the taxi and off to a new location. I never did hit a snag and if so, it was a crack in the pavement or uneven flooring. Amazing what a difference I felt with this carry-on rolling alongside me.
Now for the other parts of the carry-on I feel is noteworthy and may be of use for anyone reading up on this:
Hardware
- Wheels, handle, zipper, etc – best of the best, top quality. The wheels and handle have been high quality and the zippers are YKK – standard Briggs style.
Organization/Space
- This is the second aspect I’m most excited about! It holds so many items and can be organized very well (if you’re into the details like I am when I travel!) Briggs always surprises and delights with all the best pockets, organization and areas for safekeeping while you travel and this ZDX is no exception.
- I did notice the catchall front pocket, which seems to be in favor with the Briggs designers (the same pocket is on my Briggs & Riley Baseline Traveler Essential Traveler Backpack.) The best part about this ZDX Global Spinner though, to me anyhow, is the zippered, expandable feature. There’s just a little bit more give in case it’s needed for any of those holiday shopping trips or souvenirs while traveling. I’ve never been known to not use an expandable feature on my luggage. But honestly, I am trying to change my ways. If I could keep it zipped up, I would feel better.
The functionality has been a dream. It’s only been two weeks, I’m still very much in the honeymoon phase with this one :-).
Photos and updates to follow soon! I felt excited and compelled to share this with. It’s not an easy task to share your enthusiasm about luggage, especially when going into the detail I go into. I tend to get strange looks.
